Who is Sarah de
Weerd?
At
the age of ten I started horseriding. After riding for a few years and
taking car of a pony, my parents bought a Paint horse and a foal at the
Mill Ranch in Ede (Holland).
At first I didn't really like the
Western horse riding style. But after taking some lessons at the Mill
Ranch I started to enjoy it more and more. About a year later my
parents bought an Appaloosa and a Haflinger. The Appaloosa was used for
recreational riding only. The Haflinger was English trained, but with
the help of Karin van Bekkum, we trained her Western style.
My love for the Western riding style grew and it happened that Karin
was selling a year old gelding. We bought this wonderful gelding called
Very Surprising (We called him Flip) (Very Inviting x Kay Cees Bay
Baby). Together with Karin, Flip was prepared for Halter and later on
for Showmanship and Hunter competitions. With Flip I won several
prizes. We became Dutch Champion, High point, World Show Qualifier and
Rom Halter.
In
the mean time I started studying horsekeeping in Barneveld and later on
I went to Deurne, where I became a Western Riding Instructor. I had an
internship at the River Valley Ranch, where I got a job afterwards,
training and showing horses. The horse I achieved most with was the
Paint mare Shadow Judgement.

I also joined many competitions with Jay
Bar Pine, Rivervalleys Baileys, Chins Radical Rose, A Cool Tuff
Mojito, Keep N Eye On Me, Switchs Triple Play, RVS I
Left My Spot Behind, RVS A Cool Pinacolada and RVS Its
Painting Time. With these horses I became Dutch Champion and
futurity chamion at different levels.
While working
at the River Valley Ranch, we bred a foal using Codys Cool Breezer x
Painted Paiges. The beautiful breeding stiock RVSileftmyspotsbehind was
the result. I showed her several times and she was sold as a year-old.
Near
the end of 2007 I started looking for a new horse. At that time, Flip
had been in competitions for a few years and was now used for horse
riding lessons. Together with Joost, my boyfriend, and Karin van
Bekkum, I found the two year ol mare Lady Scotch Invited (Tigers
Invitation x Lady Scotch Handy) (Trudy). Karin also found a new horse
called Wrap And Roll who is both apha and aqha registered) (Rusty).
Our
new horses were picked up at Schiphol airport in January 2008. Since
Rusty and Trudy were both bought at the same stable, they were
traveling together. After a resting period we started training Trudy
and soon she was ready for her first competition. In which she managed
to get a second place with 11 contenders.
In August Flip was sold and he is now used recreational with an occasional showmanship competition.
I
started my own training and showing business in August. I take a
lot of courses and clinics, to make sure I get the best out of myself,
so I can be as helpful as possible for my clients.
